Bidders for Critters auction to support Chattanooga Zoo expansion
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – For all of the animal lovers out there, the Chattanooga Zoo has a neat surprise coming this summer with new animals, but they need your help with the Bidder Critter auction this upcoming week.
“We have 75 total items and include hotel stays, an exclusive zoo experience, restaurant gift cards, tickets to local attractions, furniture, glassware, a lot of really cool stuff for people to check out and all of the proceeds go to support our cape of Africa expansion,” said Director of Marketing and Communications, Jake Cash.
This expansion will be like non-other as it will be the biggest expansion in the Chattanooga Zoo’s history with a few different African wild animals for people to come see.
“Specifically, within the expansion there are supporting like animal care for a new species so this summer we’re bringing African Porcupines, Servals and Warthogs to the zoo for the first time ever in a single biggest expansion ever which is the cape of Africa expansion,” said Cash.
In order for these spiky and furry guys to make it to the Chattanooga Zoo, they need people to help make this dream come true by raising $25,000.
“The expansion with the warthog servals an African cape porcupines should open up this summer. Currently we’re hoping for July and assuming that all goes well with construction. We think that the expansion should be open by the end of July. We have not announced an official date yet hopefully they will be able to do that soon but right now it’s looking like July,” said Cash.
The auction will run from Sunday, April 21 at 8 a.m., until April 27 at 5 p.m. For more information on how to contribute, visit the Chattanooga Zoo website.
