Big Ridge Elementary, Boyd Buchanan closed Friday due to illness

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Hamilton County Schools announced that Big Ridge Elementary School will be closed on Friday due to a high rate of illnesses. All Boyd Buchanan schools will be closed Friday as well. Big Ridge Elementary

“Approximately 21% of students and 30% of staff are currently affected,” the school system said about Big Ridge. They say custodial crews will clean the facility in preparation of students and staff returning next week.

Additionally, Hamilton County Schools said SACC will be open Friday. However, the cafeteria will be closed. They ask that students bring their lunch.

“We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we take steps to protect the wellbeing of our Big Ridge students and staff,” Hamilton County Schools concluded.

 


Boyd Buchanan is closed Friday due to illness as well. They said there is a “high percentage of illness-related absences” at their schools. Boyd Buchanan lower schools also closed early on Thursday.

They canceled all lower school activities, including aftercare, for Thursday and Friday. Boyd Buchanan will be cleaning and sanitizing the campus while closed on Friday.

However, they said the Junior Senior Prom will continue as planned.
