Was Big Soddy drowning a victim of flash flooding

SODDY DAISY, Tennessee (WDEF) – The body of the person who officials believe drowned at Big Soddy Gulf over the weekend has been sent to the medical examiner’s office.

Captain Jeff Gann of the Soddy Daisy Police Department confirmed the drowning to News 12, saying it happen around 8 Saturday night.

The victim is a man, and his name has not been released.

According to police, it happened yesterday, near Highway 1-11.

The area was hit by heavy rains over the weekend.

The investigation is ongoing.
