Bike Chattanooga turns 10 years old

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Today’s the 10-year anniversary of Bike Chattanooga.

It provides residents with pay-to-ride bicycles all over the city.

The program launched in 2012 with 300 bikes and 30 bike stations.

Now Bike Chattanooga has expanded to include 400 bikes and 40 stations.

Mayor Tim Kelly commended the program for its growth over the last decade.

“Since its inception back in 2012, more than five hundred and eighty-nine thousand trips have been taken on the bike Chattanooga system. It’s a big number, and the numbers continue to grow. In the past three years alone, Bike Chattanooga has seen an eighty-three percent increase in ridership, and, notably, that was during the pandemic.”
