Bill proposed to protect pregnancy resource centers

Hixson lawmaker Greg Martin is proposing a bill in the state legislature to protect pregnancy resource centers.

His bill raises the offense of committing arson against such center to a Class B felony.

It also defines just what qualifies as a pregnancy resource center.

Tennessee would include nonprofits that provide counseling, material support or medical assistance to pregnant women.

Representative Martin says these resource centers deserve protection under the law.

He says attacks on pregnancy centers have increased across the nation since the Supreme Court overturned Roe Versus Wade three years ago.
