Amelia Greer joined WDEF-TV after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Journalism at Tennessee Technological University in 2023.
She joined the newsroom as a multimedia journalist/reporter before transitioning into her role as a news anchor. Greer spent a few months crafting content for the weekend shows and online platforms before joining the News 12 This Morning team in 2024. Now she joins Chip Chapman each morning to keep viewers informed and start the day off on the right foot.
Amelia is a hometown girl. She grew up in Dunlap about 45 minutes from Chattanooga. She went to school in Sequatchie County and found her love for storytelling at a young age. Greer competed in 4-H Speeches and took leadership roles throughout the years to strengthen her confidence. She grew up singing with her family at church and in local concerts. During college she interned at Tennessee Tech as a student writer. This generated her love for writing and crafting meaningful articles. She also learned how to create content for social media which led her to an on-air connection. Now, she balances sharing hard news stories and lifestyle content all in one shift!
You can find her Monday through Friday on News 12 starting at 5AM. Amelia solo anchors the two-hour morning shows then transitions into her co-host role at 10AM for Let’s Chatt. Greer also takes on a producer role by building a 30-minute newscast that airs live at 12PM. For more feature segments, you can find her monthly series ‘Behind the Curtain‘ on the third Thursday of the month! She created this segment with morning producer Khristine Arnold to go behind the scenes at area attractions– giving viewers an exclusive look at what it takes to make places work.
If you want to see what goes on during Amelia’s day, follow her online @ameliaontheair. She posts daily ‘fit checks’ to engage with viewers near and far — bringing more of her personality to the industry.
