UPDATE: Chattanooga PD make Arrest in Bishop Dr Shooting
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police have made an arrest in a Bonny Oaks shooting. This was the last homicide of 2017.
It happened on the night of December 28th in the 7600 block of North Bishop Drive in Bonny Oaks.
Officers say they found 20-year-old Evan Derry shot inside a Tahoe that had wrecked.
He was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Derry was from Franklin, TN, but was back and forth from there and Chattanooga.
Police say that Evan and another male were meeting the suspect 22-year-old Terrance Lewis for a drug deal.
Police say tips led them to conclude that the meeting was to provide 16 pounds of marijuana to the suspect.
“No matter what the circumstances are or the victim’s background, every life is important to us,” says Sgt. Victor Miller.
Lewis faces charges of Criminal Homicide and Especially Aggravated Robbery.
Police say there are 3 more suspects in the case, who are wanted for questioning.
This was the 33rd homicide in Chattanooga.
Funeral arrangements have been set for a victim who attended UTC.
Derry’s family says a celebration of life service is planned for tomorrow at 2 p.m. at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations to the Evan Derry Scholarship Fund at Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tennessee.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Thursday night shooting in Chattanooga has now turned into a homicide investigation.
Shortly before 9 p.m., police responded to a call of shots fired in the 7600 block of North Bishop Drive.
They found a Chevrolet Tahoe wrecked on the road, and a gunshot victim unresponsive inside.
The man was identified as 20-year-old Evan Derry, who later died of his injuries at a local hospital. Records show Derry was a student at The University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
