Firefighters battle blaze near Nikki’s Restaurant in N. Chatt
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga firefighters battled a blaze behind Nikki’s Restaurant in North Chattanooga late Sunday night.
It broke out in a wooded area behind Nikki’s Drive-In.
The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to the large brush fire off of 711 Bell Avenue late Sunday Night.
It took four fire companies and two Battalion Chiefs to contain the fire that was on Stingers Ridge.
The brush fire was located about 100 yards uphill.
Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire climbing the ridge an area approximately five acres.
Luckily, no structures were involved in the fire.
Also, there were no injuries.
Dry conditions and lower humidity means this week may be a rough one for brush fires. This past weekend was an especially dangerous time for fire conditions as the remnants of what was once Hurricane Hermine skirted the Tennessee Valley to the south.
Please keep in mind the dangerous possibilities of fire and do not discard any cigarettes or other burning material near open brush areas. Also, if you are camping, please keep an extra close eye on your campfire and make sure it is completely extinguished before you leave.
The cause of the Stringer’s Ridge fire remains under investigation, but it is especially important to keep in mind safe fire practices this time of year.
