Bledsoe County families can receive free summer meals on Friday
PIKEVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) — Bledsoe County Schools will be giving out free meals to families Friday morning in a partnership with “No Kid Hungry.”
The food distribution, called the “Summer Meals Program,” is happening on June 21 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The last distribution will take place Friday, June 28 at the same time.
Distribution takes place at Pikeville Elementary School. Their address is 41068 TN-30, Pikeville, TN 37367.
The school system wants to ensure children are being fed over the break.
They will be providing seven days’ worth of breakfast and lunch food items to those in need.
No Kid Hungry explains that many kids rely on the meals they receive during the school year, and many go hungry during the summer. Therefore, they want to ensure children are continuing to be fed over the summer break.
Eligible families in Bledsoe County can also receive $120 in Summer EBT, also known as the SUN Bucks program, for groceries.
