UPDATE: Suspect shot and killed tonight during a chase in Kentucky

UPDATE: Samuel Quinton Edwards was shot and killed tonight by police in Kentucky.

State Police tracked him outside of Louisville and gave chase.

They report he died in a shootout with police.


HENDERSONVILLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – A search has ended in Millersville, Tennessee for a suspect wanted in a Blue Alert.

Samuel Q. Edwards is wanted for the shooting of a Hendersonville officer on Monday night during a chase.

Police say the chase ended in Madison when Edwards abandoned his van and stole a pickup truck.

That pickup was found Tuesday morning in Millersville.

After a thorough ground search, police believe he caught a ride and is now out of the area.


Hendersonville police report the officer who was shot last night, was released from the hospital on Tuesday.

WSMV TV reports that Samuel Edwards was out on bond from another run-in with police.

He was arrested in Putnam County two weeks ago in a shooting on I-40.

Edwards was charged with shooting at another car going through Cookeville.

Police chased him, he lost control of his car and hit a telephone pole.

His passenger, Erica Lynn, was ejected from the car in the wreck.

Both are convicted felons who face gun and drug charges (meth) after the incident.

Edwards was charged with vehicular assault, felony evading arrest, felon in possession of a handgun, felon possession of meth and marijuana, leaving the scene of a crash, and driving on a revoked license due to DUI.

After THP’s initial investigation, the case was handed over to the FBI due to the suspects’ criminal history.
