Boil water advisory for LaFayette, GA

 

LAFAYETTE, Ga. (WDEF) – The City of LaFayette, GA has issued a boil water advisory on January 13 due to high turbidity in the water supply.

This has caused high turbidity that pauses water treatment.  The problem first occurred on December 30th.

The city is working to identify an advanced filtration solution that will address the issue. While plans are being made, the installation will not be completed until the end of the week at the earliest.

The following areas have been issued with a boil advisory until further notice: 

-East of Highway 27 bypass

-South of 136 East including the Naomi community

-Highway 151, Corinth area

-Hillcrest community

-Walnut grove area

-Old Trion Highway

Customers in these areas must boil water for 1 minute to use before cooking, drinking, or brushing teeth. The city advises conserving water during this time.

Infants, elderly, and immunocompromised should be extra careful. For more information, contact the City of LaFayette at 706-639-1511.

The city reminds everyone that the boil advisories are precautionary measures. Water consumed up to the boil advisory announcement has been safe to drink.
