Bowling Green Pitcher and Soddy Daisy Grad Logan Workman Suffers First Loss Against Rome

Rome, GA-(WDEF-TV) Minor league pitcher Logan Workman of Soddy Daisy got to play close to home on Tuesday. The former Lee pitcher is in the Tampa organization, and he started for the Bowling Green Hot Rods against the Rome Braves. News 12’s Angela Moryan was in Rome to track his performance.

It wasn’t the start that Pitcher Logan Workman wanted against the Rome Braves tonight. The Soddy Daisy native and former Lee Flame recorded his first professional loss after letting a 2-run Homer go in the fifth. Workman visibly frustrated coming out after that inning, which was his last. Rome beat Bowling Green 6-0.

Workman started strong – striking out two Braves in the first inning. Those were his first, and last. Not the typical start from the righty who averages more than 11 K’s in 9 innings.
Workman did allow just two hits. He says it wasn’t bad, just not great. Regardless, seeing all the support in the crowd is what excites him the most.

Said Workman: Now that I’m actually playing close to home, even bowling green. It’s four and a half hours. Yeah it’s a little long of a trip, but being down here an hour and a half, and being able to have everybody here, it made that start even though it wasn’t the best one, it made it feel like I was at home again, back at Lee, back at Soddy. It felt great.

The good news is, Chattanooga’s local favorite will be back on the mound in Rome Sunday. This is the closest Workman will travel to, so if you want to see the Soddy Daisy product pitch, come on down 75 on Sunday! Maybe stop by Bucees while you’re here? That’s where I’m heading now. We’ll have more with Logan next week, so don’t change that channel! Reporting from Rome, I’m Angela Moryan.
