Boy shoots brother after exiting Marion County school bus, police say

MARION COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — After exiting a school bus on Wednesday, police said a boy shot his brother with a gun.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department said the two brothers were riding home on a bus from a Marion County school. The brothers were having an altercation on the bus. The sheriff’s department said it then turned physical.

They said the boy shot his brother three times with a .45 caliber gun.

It happened after 3:30 p.m. Central time on March 8.

Marion County officers took the boy into custody, and emergency personnel took the victim to a hospital.

They said the victim had to go through surgery. The sheriff’s department stated that his injuries were severe, but not life-threatening.

The boys attend a Marion County school, but live in Grundy County, according to police.

Officials did not release any other information because those involved are juveniles.

However, they are still investigating the incident.
