Bradley Central Coach Jason Reuter Happy to See Rhyne Howard Go Number One in WNBA Draft

Cleveland, TN-(WDEF-TV) Bradley Central high school graduate Rhyne Howard went number one overall in the WNBA Draft on Monday. She was taken first overall by the Atlanta Dream. The Dream made a trade last week to acquire the top pick so they could take Howard. Howard played at the University of Kentucky, where she averaged 20 points a game over her final three seasons.

Howard of course played high school ball for Bearettes head coach Jason Reuter.

Needless to say, he’s proud of what she accomplished tonight, plus the fact she will be close to Cleveland with the Atlanta Dream.

Reuter is humbled to have coached a superstar like Rhyne Howard.

Said Reuter:”I’m thankful the lord sent her to Bradley Central. You could coach a thousand years and may never coach a number one pick in the WNBA draft. And she averaged 22.5 points her senior year here. She could have averaged 32 points, but we wouldn’t have been any better. She facilitated the ball so well. She’s a little bit like a Magic Johnson. You can put him at any position, and that’s what she is. So you’ve got a utility knife in your pocket when you have Rhyne Howard yes.”
