Bradley Central Girls Begin Quest For Elusive Gold Ball

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Even though the Bradley Central girls basketball team lost superstar Rhyne Howard to graduation, they still earned another trip to the state tournament. The Bearettes face Lebanon Wednesday morning in the quarterfinal round from Murfreesboro.

To get used to the bigger collegiate court at MTSU, Bradley Central practiced at the Mocs McKenzie Arena on Tuesday. The Bearettes are frequent guests of the state tournament, but they haven’t won it all since 1976, and they haven’t been to the title game since ’95.

Said head coach Jason Reuter:”Gary Ownbey who is a Bradley historian has done the research. The Bearettes have won more games than any team in the state of Tennessee. All time. But, we are hungry for a gold ball. And so are the other seven teams. We are going to go up there and give it our best shot. I promise you it won’t be for a lack of effort. I promise you that.”
