Bradley Central’s Boo Carter Commits to Vols After Whirlwind Recruiting Process
Cleveland, TN-(WDEF-TV) Bradley Central’s Boo Carter just wrapped up his recruitment over the weekend…annoucing he’s headed to play for the Vols.
Carter was listed as one of the top recruits in the country.
Many of the nation’s elite college teams wanted Carter’s talents, as well as one of the nation’s premiere entertainers.
Boo Carter’s recruiting process kicked off before his sophomore year in high school with an unexpected call from Tennessee assistant Wille Martinez.
Said Carter:”He was telling me how he liked how I played. He liked my physicality. He liked my speed, and he liked my vision. So he offered me that sophomore year.”
As his recruiting status blossomed so did the phone calls.
Said Carter:”I got a call by Deion. He text me first. He was like. He was like yo Boo. This is Deion. I’m fixing to call you in a minute.”
Pretty surreal for Carter to say the least, but in the end…he chose Tennessee.
Said Carter:”Deep down in my heart I liked it at Tennessee. It was close to home. My family can drive up there. It’s an hour and-a-half away.”
Perhaps the wildest part of Carter’s recruitment.
He made his verbal committment from New York…at Jay Z’s place…the 40-40 club.
Said Carter:”My coach. His name is J.J. He worked with Lamelo Ball. So they’re real close to Jay Z. And Jay Z wanted me to get me an NIL deal. He wanted me to commit at his place at the 40-40 Club.”
Reporter:”How would you describe the 40-40 Club?”
Said Carter:”I mean shoot. It was nice. You walk in. It’s just. A lot of glass. TV’s everywhere. It’s just nice in there. But we were like in his private room. Yeah it was fun though.”
Reporter:”You mentioned Jay Z wanted you to come up there to make the committment. Does that men he called you or texted you or how did that come about?”
Said Carter:”Nah. He ain’t text me. He got in cotact with my coach, so my coach told me, so that’s how it went.”
