Bradley County arrests driver after crash on APD 40

CLEVELAND, Tennessee (WDEF) – Bradley County deputies arrest a couple after their mini-van crashed Tuesday morning.

It happened on the Blue Springs Road exit ramp to APD-40 around 10:30 AM.

Detectives were investigating the driver, Johnny Jenkins, for several burglaries and were trying to pull him over on nearby Blackburn Road.

But he fled.

They say he pulled into oncoming traffic on APD-40, took the Blue Springs exit, hit a ditch there (losing a bumper) and ended up in a ditch.

The investigating officer says Jenkins told him that he was off his medication and hallucinating.

He also says Jenkins confessed to taking meth the night before and hydrocodone in the morning.

He was arrested for driving on a revoked license out of Hamilton County.

But both Johnny and Stephanie Jenkins also had felony auto burglary charges against them.

Investigators are waiting for results of a blood test for further charges.
