Bradley County man arrested after deputies find drugs during welfare check

BRADLEY COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A welfare check turned into an arrest after a man was found unconscious with drug paraphernalia nearby.

On May 21, 2025, deputies with the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), responded to a welfare check at a business on Spring Place Road.

Upon arrival, deputies found a male, later identified as Rex Woody Morgan, slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle.

Deputies also found drug paraphernalia in Morgan’s lap, and a firearm on his hip.

EMS was able to wake him up, and his vehicle was then searched.

According to BCSO, deputies found various types of illegal narcotics and paraphernalia, including:

  • Fentanyl
  • Methamphetamine
  • Heroin
  • Marijuana
  • Digital Scales

Morgan was arrested and taken into custody.

He is being charged with the following:

  • Sell/Delivery of Methamphetamine
  • Sell/Delivery of Schedule I
  • Possession of a Firearm While Under the Influence
  • Possession of Schedule II for Resale
  • Public Intoxication
