Brainerd High School kicks off its Future Ready Program by showing one can excel without a college degree

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Brainerd High School kicked off its Future Ready Program August 25th.

Students were able to see some of the people and things that are locally available to them after graduation.

The Chattanooga Fire Department was on hand, as well as a helicopter flying unit.

Brainerd’s executive principal, Dr. Crystal Sorrells, says this is important for kids in that area to see that they can still excel without a college degree.

“It’s excellent for them to see that it is possible! Despite the odds, despite the zip code, despite the setbacks and challenges, our students can do whatever they put their hearts and minds to.”

The fire department says it has partnered with Brainerd for the past few years, allowing students to participate in its fire forensics program.
