Brainerd Loses Heartbreaker in State Semifinals 71-68 to Alcoa

Brainerd fell 71-68 to Alcoa on Friday in Mufreesboro in the semifinals of the Blue Cross State Basketball Championships. The Panthers Boo Carter missed a three-pointer at the buzzer to try and send the game into overtime. Dennis Lewis Junior led Brainerd with 25 points, while Alcoa’s scored 32, including 13-15 from the foul line. The Tornadoes led at one point by 17 points in the first half. They also shot 70 percent in the fourth quarter to hold off the Brainerd rally.
