Brainerd Tunnels shootout suspect identified, added to Most Wanted List

Woman was killed when one of the vehicles in the tunnel shootout rammed her car

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A suspect has now been indicted for the death of a woman in June caught up in a chase and shootout in the Brainerd tunnels.

Tekia Clay was killed when one of the vehicles hit her car on June 28.

Police say she was just trying to get out of the way when passengers in a pickup and a BMW exchanged gunfire while speeding through the tunnel.

But the pickup rear-ended her car, pushing her into another.

She was ejected in the crash.

Now 20 year old D’Avonte Wofford has been identified as a a suspect in the case.

He has been indicted on charges of First Degree Felony Murder and Vehicular Homicide but is still at large.

The TBI has just added Wofford to their Most Wanted list.

There is a $2,500 reward for information leading to his arrest.
