Brandon and Whitney Cawood share their documentary “To Dye For”

DALTON, Ga. (WDEF)- Today we met with Brandon Cawood and his wife, Whitney, and their two beautiful children to discuss their new documentary, “To Dye For.”

This Documentary is not only about Brandon and Whitney’s fight to save their child’s quality of life, but it’s also about them being able to spread the crucial knowledge that they’ve learned along the way, with other families who share the same nightmares with synthetic dyes.

After discovering their son, Atreyu’s life-altering sensitivity to synthetic dyes, the couple set out to seek answers to better their child’s health.

During their journey, they decided to document the process of uncovering the hidden impact of synthetic dyes, resulting in becoming first-time filmmakers.

This film was completely handmade by Brandon and Whitney, from writing and producing, to editing and showcasing the piece.

They give their thanks to friends, family members, and the local community members who put their best efforts forward, to help make their first documentary, one to remember.

The end goal was to find answers for not only their child, but other children experiencing the many nightmares that come out the consumer industry.

Brandon said, with his background in film and editing, and his wife’s deep passion to dig for truth, they decided to take on this quest, that included, traveling to many different places for in-person interviews with the world’s leading experts.

Whiteney Cawood says, “Synthetic Dyes are cosmetic. They are not used for anything other than to make our food colorful, so that we buy them. So, to know that manufacturers are using these synthetic dyes to sell their foods, but harming the people that are most vulnerable is really our motivation behind this. We really hope and we really believe that parents and not just moms, but parents as well, can get behind this and really make a change.”

Together, not only have the Cawoods found solutions for Atreyu, but they’ve also brought to light one of the biggest secrets in consumer industry.

It seems like just a colorful, convenient snack, until you realize the trust cost is your child’s quality of life.

Atreyu Cawood, Brandon and Whitney’s little boy, even has a solution.

He says, “If you take out all of the dyes then your food would be healthier and also you don’t need to take out the dyes and not add in any color, you can add natural dyes and then it’s still colorful.”

They hope that their film will help answer questions and give solutions those who feel trapped in the same situation, they once found themselves in.

Brandon and Whitney say, “We will be screening at the Rome Film Festival on November 2, 2024, at 3:30 PM at Palm Studios. 6. We will be having our local premiere for Dalton on January 3, 2025, at the historic Wink Theater. 7. We are currently in the impact stage of the film, booking private screenings and partnerships with, organizations, non-profits, and influencers across the country as fundraising for marketing the film.”
