Braves hot hitting prospect talks on-base streak while in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Fans have flooded the stands at AT&T Field this week, but it’s not all in support of the Chattanooga Lookouts. The Mississippi Braves are in town, which means Atlanta’s hottest prospect Michael Harris II is in town.

Harris is the only player in Double-A ball to reach base in every single game this season. His 3-0-3 batting average is top-ten in the Southern League.

He says the key to consistency is maintaining a routine, and keep doing what got him here in the first place.

“[I] Just try not to get out. I don’t know. Sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes it doesn’t pan out your way,” Harris said about his on-base streak. “Starting the season, I was just doing what I can do. I was trying to help the team win anyway, whether that’s hit, walking, base running, just trying to do that every day and if it keeps going, it keeps going.”

Harris grew up a Braves fan. He’s getting closer and closer to fulfilling the dream to play for his hometown team.
