Police say shooting suspect near Hamilton Place Mall is dead
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police received calls of an active shooter in an office building on Hamilton Place Boulevard on Monday. They said the threat is now over and the suspect has died.
It happened at around 2 p.m. Police then began searching for a suspect and any victims.
This was at an office building located on the 2000 block of Hamilton Place Boulevard, south of the mall. It did not occur at the mall.
CPD held a press conference at around 4 p.m. on Monday.
They said this about the shooting suspect.
“What information we know… A shooter was inside the building and was attempting to execute a plan that failed. He shot himself and he is deceased. There were no other victims that were shot. We are still continuing this investigation. This is an ongoing and active investigation.”
Many surrounding businesses were temporarily on lockdown. They are now beginning to resume operations.
CPD said there is no active threat to the public.
They also do not currently have any information on potential targets.
However, they said there were no other victims.
As the investigation is ongoing, police ask the public to avoid the area.
