Building, equipment damaged in Athens fire
ATHENS, Tenn. (WDEF) — Athens firefighters extinguished a structure fire overnight at the MBI.
Firefighters responded to the fire just before 8:30 p.m. at 2542 Sullins Road. This is the location for “the maintenance shop and office” of the Athens MBI location, according to the city.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building.
Nobody was injured.
However, there was significant damage to the building and equipment, the city added.
There are limited details about the fire at this time. Authorities are still investigating to determine what caused the fire.
