CAIR Calls for Action After Threat Made Against Islamic Society of Greater Chattanooga
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A Tennessee man is facing federal charges after allegedly threatening a Chattanooga mosque in an email that ended with the words “Hail Satan.”
Prosecutors say 50-year-old Robert William Miller sent the threatening message to the Islamic Society of Greater Chattanooga. He pleaded not guilty this week in federal court.
Hooper added, “Well, unfortunately, we’re seeing bias-motivated incidents targeting houses of worship — not just mosques, but churches, temples, and synagogues nationwide. So it’s very important for law enforcement authorities to take these incidents seriously, to investigate them appropriately, and to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
Earlier this year, CAIR released its 2025 Civil Rights Report, which found Islamophobia remains at record-high levels across the country.
The group is encouraging anyone who experiences bias, hate incidents, or threats to report them to both law enforcement and CAIR.
