Calhoun Beats Blessed Trinity to Advance to Class 5A State Title Game

Calhoun, GA-(WDEF-TV) Calhoun defeated Blessed Trinity 24-7 on Friday at Calhoun High School to advance to the Class 5A state title game next Saturday in Atlanta. Yellow Jackets scored on their opening possession as Emaree Watson hauled in a short touchdown pass from Christian Lewis to make it 7-0. Lewis added another touchdown pass early in the second quarter on a six yard strike to Cole Speer. That made it 14-0. Following a Quin Smith interception, the Yellow Jackets marched it down the field. The drive was capped off by a 31-yard touchdown pass from Lewis to Speer.  It was 21-0 at halftime, and the Yellow Jackets held strong in the second half for the 24-7 victory.
