Calhoun Beats Ridgeland 45-21 in Corky Kell Classic

Rome, GA-(WDEF-TV) Calhoun and Ridgeland got the Georgia high school football season underway on Thursday night in Rome in the Corky Kell Classic, and the Yellow Jackets pulled away in the second half for a 45-21 victory. Ridgeland got on the board first on a 24-yard touchdown pass from Tanner Hill to Jordan Blackwell. After the Yellow Jackets tied the score at seven, the Panthers answered with a 42-yard run from Blackwell to make it 14-7. The Yellow Jackets tied the score at 14 at halftime. But Calhoun started pulling away in the third. Zach Fuller scored on a five yard run to make it 21-14. Calhoun recovered a fumble on Ridgeland’s next series, and Fuller scored on the next offensive snap for Calhoun to make it 28-14. Yellow Jackets went on to win 45-21.
