Campaign to send 100,000 thank you letters to troops

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Ty, Kelly and Chuck from 107.9 Nash Icon, have an idea to send 100 thousand thank you letters to troops who are stationed overseas during the holidays.

This morning, Dodger, from Nash Icon, and the News 12’s Now morning team visited the kids at OLPH, to ask for their help in writing thank you notes to the troops.

The students gathered in the gym and Chip and Dodger explained the program.

Then they went back to class, and immediately started writing their thank you’s to the service members.

“Dodger” tells us “This is open to every school, to everybody in town, around our community, it’s a national effort to put together one hundred thousand thank you’s. So we here in Chattanooga would love to do our part to help collect as many as possible and whether it’s through schools, whether it’s through church groups, fraternities, sororities, scout troops, whatever you have to get together with people and write thank you cards, is really the perfect thing to do.”

The cards can be dropped off at 821 Pineville Rd. The deadline for sending them is is Nov. 26th. You can learn more here online.

The class that writes the most notes will win an ice cream party sponsored by Mayfield.
