Camping Gear Stolen from Cub Scouts

CHATTANOOGA Tenn. (WDEF) –  A group of Hamilton County  Cub Scouts are now without several of items of camping gear, after they say someone stole it.

“You could’ve robbed bank. or you could’ve held hostages, but steal stuff from the cub scouts? You probably have to be pretty sick” said cub scout Nikolas Chadwick.

Cub Master David Chadwick said another scout leader had loaded up the gear the night before, but when he came out of his home the next morning he saw someone had stolen their gear.

“He noticed a tent was in the grass next to his truck. He got to looking and several of our totes of equipment, cots, easy-ups, things of that nature, were all gone.”
Hundreds of dollars worth of camping equipment stolen out of the bed of the truck.

The group of scouts were planning to make their way down to Alabama for a weekend camping trip.

“We didn’t have the money to go out and buy that stuff and so we just did without. We slept on the ground. I mean, that’s what scouts do. Our resolve is not to let that bother us and just keep on going”, said David Chadwick.

The Scouts are sending a message out to whoever did this.

“If you really need it, you know, that’s one thing, but if you don’t need it give it back”, said David Chadwick.
They scouts will be selling popcorn on October 1st outside of the Hixson Hobby Lobby from 11am until 5pm.
They’ll also be outside Sportsman Warehouse on October 1st and 2nd  from 12 until 6 Saturday and again on Sunday.

The group will also be taking donations.

If you are interested in donating please contact Cub Master David Chadwick at 423-400-4282
