CARTA officially releases its new mobile app Token Transit

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) officially released its new mobile app, Token Transit, to make traveling easier.

The days of worrying about having cash on you for a ride on the CARTA bus are over.

Passengers can purchase bus passes using any digital payment method on their phone.

After payment, the app then instantly activates the pass for the driver to confirm.

CARTA officials say they wanted to give this option to community members to make traveling easier.

CARTA’s Communication Director, Brandon Meredith, says, “Pushing this app out before the holidays shows that we care, and we hope that this makes for a better riding experience for all CARTA riders.”

You can now purchase a pass from your digital device in three easy steps:

1.Download the Token Transit app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

2.Select CARTA as your transit agency.

3.Purchase and activate bus passes with just a few taps using Cash App or other payment methods.

Meredith explains a cool new pass-sharing feature on the app where you can now send bus passes to friends, family, or anyone in need using Token Transit as a gift.

This digital solution eliminates the need for paper tickets and cash transactions, providing a faster and more sustainable way to pay for public transportation.
