Catalytic converter theft on the rise
CATOOSA COUNTY, Georgia (WDEF)- Catalytic converters continue to be an item stolen off of vehicles in the area.
East Ridge Police and Catoosa County Law Enforcement have warned the public about an increase number of catalytic converter thefts.
Catoosa County Sheriff, Gary Sisk, says they recently made an arrest in several converters being stolen.
He says they are often stolen from places where a vehicle will be sitting there, unattended, for a long time. “Catalytic converter thefts are very important, if you have to leave your vehicle parked. Usually, they target churches because church buses sit in the parking lot for a long time. They’re doing this for the metals that are inside the catalytic converter’s and because the inflation and everything the prices of those metals are going up,” said Sisk.
He says your car will sound like a race car, if your catalytic converter has been stolen.
