Catoosa and Walker Sheriffs compete in Battle of the Badges

WALKER COUNTY, GA (WDEF) — There was a bloody competition in Northwest Georgia today.

It’s called the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive.

Walker and Catoosa County sheriff’s offices compete to collect the most blood donations in a single day.

Walker County hosted its event at the Sheriff’s office headquarters in Lafayette.

Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson told us, “Someone suggested why don’t the Sheriff’s have a contest let’s call it the battle of the badges and it went from that first year being a success and we just kept it up all these years and so now as I said, we’re in our 11th year and last year, I think both counties collected around 140 units.”

Even if you didn’t donate today, Sheriff Wilson told us it’s always a valuable and important contribution to consider.
