Catoosa County: From SRO to School Superintendent

Catoosa board will vote on Charles Nix to become the next school leader

RINGGOLD, Georgia (WDEF) – The Catoosa Board of Education will vote next week on whether to approve Charles (Chance) Nix as the next superintendent.

He already was approved as the final pick at the last board meeting, but state law requires them to wait 14 days before they can approve the pick.

Nix has worked in the Catoosa system for the last 15 years.

In 2006, he was actually a deputy Sheriff for the county and worked as a school resource officer at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High.

Two years later, he was hired to teach public safety at Heritage High.

From there, he became an assistant principal at West Side Elementary and then back to LFO.

He became principal there in 2017.

The superintendent job became available after Denia Reese announced her retirement at the beginning of the school year.
