CBL malls and shopping centers will close for Thanksgiving this year

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga-based CBL & Associates Properties has decided to keep their stores closed for Thanksgiving this year.

The company announced on Wednesday that their shopping centers across the country will not use Thursday to get an early jump on holiday shopping.

In a release, company officials stated “We want to bring back the excitement of Black Friday shopping as the true start of the holiday shopping season and allow our employees, retailers, and shoppers to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with their families,” said Stephen Lebovitz, President and CEO, CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. “After evaluating feedback from our mall employees and retail partners as well as input from our shoppers, we determined that this was the best decision for our properties.”

The decision affects 119 properties across the country, including several here in the Tennessee Valley, from Athens to Dalton.
