Celebration of life tonight for McCallie 8th grader Jackson Standefer

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – McCallie School will host a celebration of life for eight grader Jackson Standefer on Wednesday evening.

He was swept away with his grandmother while at a river crossing in the Grand Canyon on April 15th.

The service is a closed event for the family and the McCallie community.

“The family and McCallie School would like to thank everyone for their concern, love and support during what has been a difficult time over the past several days. The outpouring of support and the respect shown has been overwhelming and appreciated greatly.”

Over the weekend, Jackson’s uncle, shared the last photographs of Jackson Standefer and Lou Ann Merrell on his Facebook page.

They come from Jackson’s Go Pro that was found in his backpack by park rangers.
