CFC Enjoying First Place After Joining MLS NEXT Pro League
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) New league..no problem for the CFC.
The Boys in blue are currently tied for first place in the MLS NEXT Pro league.
Head coach Rod Underwood explains the team’s early success with News 12’s Brian Armstrong.
Chattanooga FC did enough to earn a 1 1 draw against Orlando City B over the weekend.
Said Underwood:”Created 21 chances, 21 shots, so that’s a lot, right? That’s something that we’re not necessarily the best at. At the end of the day, we don’t lose. We didn’t lose. We didn’t lose, you know, it’s good. That’s really important in this league, as you can see the format, right?”
Adding in the MLS Next Pro rule, CSE gained another point with a shootout victory.
Said Underwood:”I only like it when we get the extra point. So, but in terms of like the functionality of it, you know, you’ve got developmental players, you’ve got second team players, that these are all the elements they’re trying to create to put players, young players, or guys like some of our guys who have a chance to make a jump, to a higher level in those pressure moments.”
CFC is continuing to grow in this new league and learn how to capitalize on scoring early like they did in this one less than three minutes into the game.
Said Underwood:”How do you get like the next and the next and just be relentless and just be brutal? That’s where we want to be.”
Coach Underwood is stressing the importance that the team needs to grow in its ruthlessness.
Said Underwood:”Just really like really take control and just dominate and be dominant and just be like, Yeah, this, you know, We’re here and we dare you to come and play.”
