CFC Expect Another Stiff Challenge Against Atlanta United

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) It’s a ‘Friendly at Finley’ Saturday as the CFC entertain Atlanta United of the MLS in an exhibition match. Chattanooga has lost the previous two meetings by a combined score of 10-0. And as Brian Armstrong reports, it won’t get any easier for the CFC Saturday.

Said CFC head coach Rod Underwood: We’re ambitious within the confines of what we can do on and off the field.
Atlanta United is taking a drive on 75 north to taking on Chattanooga FC at Finley stadium.
Said Underwood: They one of the biggest teams in America. They’ve had lots of success. The quality players. Our fans get a chance to see them in their home venue and I have to travel
Said CFC goalie Jean Antoine: There’s always an excitement when you get to play a team and a higher level. It always brings the best of you and hopefully we will be challenging them to the end.
What can Chattanooga fans expect? Well Chattanooga FC is looking to play their style of soccer.

Said Antoine: Right now we’re just working on ourselves and working on the things that we need to work on. We’re not really so much worried about them. We’ve gotta work on us and get ready for our season and what’s ahead.

Said Underwood: They (Atlanta) should come out, they should win and they should dominate. But if we wanna get better at what we do we have to do that under those adverse situations because what we’re not gonna do in the season is it back in counter. So it doesn’t help us.
With this game being so early is is giving the team a longer preseason training session.

Said Underwood: Trying to sign guys and most of our teams haven’t even started. So we’re kind of competing with MLS league one with players. Which that’s our level but on the flip-side of that we look at it as a mini camp. Like a mini camp where we get a jump start and hopefully that propels us through the season

Chattanooga FC can also use this opportunity to learn from some of the best players in the US.

Said Underwood: They got a World Cup winner on their team and we can enjoy them and learn from them as well. We’re not gonna be silly here say that we can’t learn from them. We’re gonna say what can we take from them to make us better at our level.

Said Antoine: Character, discipline and the thing that we’re working on in the locker room and the stuff that we work on today on the field. So we’re gonna see how the pieces fit now and beyond for the rest of the season.

Match starts at 3pm on Saturday.
