Dear Chattanooga,
August 01, 2016
Our season ended a week too soon last Saturday when we fell 1-2 to the Sonoma County Sol, who will advance to their fourth NPSL championship title match. We join our fans in celebrating their win, and offer our sincere best wishes for them in the 2016 Championship match.
But it was a hard loss—a heartbreaking loss. After such an extraordinary season, to come so close to our 5th national title match (and our second championship match played at home at Ft. Finley); to come close to fighting for our First NPSL National Title in front of our home fans and the Chattahooligans—well, we could taste it.
But here’s what matters: A 10 minute standing ovation for our CFC after the final whistle against Sonoma. Over 10,000 fans at each of our last two matches. Yet another amazing grass pattern compliments of our friends at Finley Stadium—the most exceptional facility any team could ask for. Sponsors and supporters who come to us out of love for the game and love for the city. The best players you could hope for—not just exceptionally talented, but players who come to Chattanooga and find a home in our hearts, and in theirs. Our fans, one in all, young and old, seasoned and new, and the mighty Chattahooligans who are the fuel of our collective passion.
So, win or lose, we wouldn’t trade our blessings with any team in the nation. Together we are truly the song of the city. Thank you Chattanooga, for singing it with us.
We’ll be back in 2017 to do it all over again—together with you.
