CFD Captain Eric Gordon Retires Following 25-Year Career

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) has announced the retirement of Captain Eric Gordon (Engine 16 Red Shift).

“Thank you for what you’ve contributed to this department and for all that you’ve done for the community.”

– Fire Chief Terry Knowles said.

The CFD praised him for his dedication, respect and kindness.

Captain Gordon’s fellow firefighters said the following as he marked his final days on the job:
– “You are a trusted friend and brother.”
– “You are top of the list when I think of an outstanding company officer.”
– “When I saw you on the scene of big incidents, I knew everything would be ok.”
– “You are one of the best captains I’ve ever worked with.”
– “You are a genuinely good person who leads with integrity.”
– “I appreciate your patience and how you always build others up.”
– “You leave very big shoes to fill.”
