CFD responds to fire at warehouse off Amnicola Hwy

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a warehouse building off Amnicola Hwy Saturday.

It was called in just before 2:45 PM.

Smoke could be seen from miles away.

The fire was first called in with the possibility of employees trapped on the roof of the Mueller Company.

A second alarm was requested to bring in additional firefighters and equipment.

The firefighters arrived and found that the workers had gotten off the roof uninjured.

Battalion Chief Carlos Hampton says the fire was in the roofing materials.

A plant official told firefighters that employees with a subcontractor were installing a new roof.

That’s when they say a fire broke out and the employees could not put it out.

They got off the roof, sounded the fire alarm to evacuate the building, and called 911.

It took roughly 24 firefighters on six fire apparatus about an hour to get the blaze under control.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is being ruled accidental.

Chattanooga police, Hamilton County EMS and Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue also provided assistance on the scene.
