CFD responds to battery acid spill
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – At 11:12 P.M. Monday, the Siskin Steel and Supply Company on 1901 Riverfront Parkway reported needing aid when a forklift flipped over.
The Chattanooga Fire Department responded and found the forklift battery was on fire and leaking acid.
Soda ash was used to neutralize the acid and contain the spill of approximately 40 gallons.
Workers were evacuated from the scene and there are no reported injuries.
CFD’s Special Division and multiple Green Shift companies responded to the scene. Several Green Shift crews were already on a late night call at the Development Resource Center at 1250 Market Street to extinguish a fire found in the walls.
