Charges dismissed in Staples clerk dispute

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A Hamilton County judge on Monday dismissed charges against a former school board chairman in Sequatchie County.

Charles Rollins was charged with assault.

A police report said he got into an argument with a cashier at Staples in December over price-matching.

The clerk told officers he threatened to shoot her.

But the judge threw out the charge on Monday and expunged his record.

On Facebook, Rollins said the accusation was made up by the clerk.

“To those who have no idea how this has affected our family, I pray and hope it never happens to you!”
