Charleston’s Olin Corporation faces lawsuit over mercury exposure
BRADLEY COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Charleston chemical manufacturer is being sued for mercury exposure.
The Joey James Law Firm filed a lawsuit against the Olin Corporation with a complaint of more than 200 pages.
It accuses the Olin Corporation of knowingly exposing employees and their family members to hazardous levels of mercury. They say this poses severe health risks and brain damage.
There are currently more than 150 plaintiffs in this case, and lawyers expect at least 50 more to file, according to the law firm.
The lawsuit also alleges that the company did not maintain safe working conditions.
It adds that the plaintiffs are seeking compensation, medical treatment and expenses, and punitive damages.
