Chase from Grundy to Dade ends when van flips over Lookout Mountain barrier wall
DADE COUNTY, Georgia (WDEF) – A long chase ended Sunday night on the bluff of Lookout Mountain overlooking Trenton.
Grundy County deputies had been chasing a van driven by a man wanted in Illinois.
The chase led them into Georgia and over Lookout Mountain.
Dade County officers joined the chase by Grundy and Walker County deputies on Highway 136.
When the van got to the bluff, instead of turning right, he headed straight into the concrete barrier and flipped into the trees.
The driver was trapped inside and had to be freed by his pursuers.
Barry May was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be non life-threatening injuries.
He was wanted in Waukegan, Illinois where he faced multiple drug charges and jumping bail.
