Chattanooga Fire Department host annual Fire Prevention Week

CHATTANOOGA,Tenn. (WDEF)- The Chattanooga Fire Department is kicking off  Fire Prevention Week.

During the week, CFD is raising awareness on Smoke Alarms.

Due to folks not having or changing a smoke alarm has resulted in fires with injuries and fatalities.

CFD says having a smoke alarm can be life saving.

“We are finding out that a lot of people do not have smoke alarms, or they do not know the education behind the smoke alarms when they test, when they change them, why they chirping versus why they are beeping,” said Allen Green, Fire Life Safety Educator. “So that is why we push this message every year, really, in my position, Ipush it all year round”

The Chattanooga Fire Department will also host a free Fire Prevention event on Saturday at the East Lake Community Center starting at 11 AM to 2 PM.
