CHATT Foundation hosts 2nd annual Juneteenth celebration
case managers and staff were on-site to support and assist Chattanooga's homeless population as well
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)– The CHATT Foundation hosted their second annual Juneteenth celebration Friday.
From 3 to 4 p.m., community members were invited downtown to celebrate freedom, continuing to build hope and resiliency within the community.
All while the celebration took place, CHATT Foundation case managers and staff were on-site to support and assist Chattanooga’s homeless population as well.
“It’s just amazing to be a part of an organization that wants to acknowledge what Juneteenth is about, and then to be able to have our participants that we service to experience something that they don’t have on a regular basis,” said CHATT Foundation Community Center Manager and event organizer, Desirae Turner.
The event took place just off 11th Street, where nonprofit organizations offered more than just support, but also music, hot dogs, snow cones and so much more.
Those living without shelter were offered hygiene kits, ponchos, mosquito repellant bracelets, sunscreen, fruit and snack packs .
