‘Chatt Town Cool Down’ to be held downtown this weekend
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Outdoor Chattanooga hosts ‘Chatt Town Cool Down’ for the first time this weekend.
The event will act as an end of summer party.
Bracing the heat, there will be water-related events for the public.
“And we’ll stay cool. Because, hey let me let you in on some action here, we will have these sprinkler races. You will cool down either in the sprinklers or even at the fountain,” Programs Coordinator Terri Chapin said.
All events listed online are family-friendly and free.
“Yeah, so right behind us is the Walnut Street Bridge, the ‘Walnut Wall’ we call it. It is a 50-foot climbing wall where folks can come and try some rock climbing. We also have some amazing adventures out there. Folks can be a part of the Friday night ‘Black Women and Allies Paddle’, with H2O Life. We also have the ‘Splash Down.’ We are going to be splashing skateboards off of ramps and into the water…BMX bikes, experienced riders only please. But that is a wonderful thing to spectate and enjoy,” Chapin said.
These events and more will be held at Ross’s Landing and Coolidge Park.
Activities like disc golf and paddle boarding are just some of the interactive events offered.
One Chattanooga native is coming all the way from Los Angeles to teach a dance skate workshop.
“We got a pop-up roller rink happening. We got rental skates available. So, if you don’t own skates, it’s okay, we got them for you. But if you do have roller skates, or roller blades, bring them. All wheels are welcome. We’re going to start off with a free class– introductory to roller skating,” CEO & Founder of ‘Dance Skate’ Morgan Weske said.
From professional-led dance skating to scaling the Walnut Street bridge, the event will bring a little bit of everything for everyone.
Make sure to check out the events listed online this weekend.
