Chattanooga Airport’s grand opening for new terminal

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga Airport held their grand opening and ribbon cutting for the new $28 million passenger terminal expansion that has been in the works for the last two years as it adds 26,000 square feet to the airport.

“The expansion of the Chattanooga Airport aligns with our vision of the city’s future…a thriving airport is not only a gateway for travelers but a catalyst for economic development, job creation, and business opportunities,” said President of Chattanooga Airport, April Cameron.

What isn’t there to like about the new terminal? It features a restaurant, bar, and added restrooms that are just past the TSA checkpoint. 90% of the expansion cost will be covered by the Federal Aviation Administration.

“Whether you are a frequent flyer or a first-time visitor, we want the Chattanooga Airport to leave a lasting impression on the city,” said Chairman of the C.M.A.A., James Hall.

The expansion was long overdue as there was a 13% gain in passenger boardings in 2023. What’s even better is that Allegiant Airlines and Chattanooga airport have announced non-stop flights.

Needless to say, the Chattanooga airport is expanding for the better and these long-awaited improvements to the airport are going to help everyone traveling through Chattanooga.
