Chattanooga City Council Postpones Uber Vote

(WDEF)      The Chattanooga City Council puts off the controversial Transportation vote for a week.
Two proposed ordinances were on the table.
They both require Uber drivers to get permits, background checks, vehicle inspections and insurance.
But they differ on whether or not these drivers should have the same rules and regulations as taxi drivers.
After several meetings with upset taxi and Uber drivers, the Council opted to study the issue for one more week.
The goal is to combine the two ordinances into one regulating all Passenger Vehicles for Hire.
Councilman Yusuf Hakeem represents District 9.  He said, "If you’re still looking at issues, if there’s still amendments that have not been reviewed, should we be prepared to vote tonight?"
The Council will bring up the ordinance again at next week’s meeting.
